Webinfosys's Entertainment News : People underestimate Jolie: Clint Eastwood

American film director and actor Clint Eastwood believes that people underestimate Angelina Jolie, because she is such a beautiful woman.

Eastwood is currently directing Angelina in a new movie The Changeling and according to him the actress has more to her than her looks.

He believes that even though Angelina is one of the most attractive stars in the world and an impressive actress, she has more substance to her personality than she is given credit for.

The Dirty Harry star is convinced that critics overlook her other qualities because of her appearance.

"I think that people underestimate her talent because she is such a good-looking woman. That was a problem Ingrid Bergman encountered. Bette Davis didn't have that handicap; her face didn't fit the standards of glamour. People instantly though of her as a great actress,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“Angelina Jolie is more like Simone Signoret, whose obvious glamour never obscured her personality," he added.

Webinfosys's Entertainment News : Shall we tell the President?

Now that Barack Obama has got Hillary Clinton out of the presidential race, guess what could be next on his agenda?

Well, he's going to dig into his tub of buttered popcorn as he sits back and makes sense of Kamal Haasan's 10 avatars. Don't believe it? Actually, neither do we. But when it comes to marketing a film like Dasavatharam, its merry band of distributors are pulling out all stops and even painting the White House a deep shade of red.

Earlier this week we were told how Dubya, now that he's at the farewell end of his second term in the Oval Office, would be watching Dasavatharam. Now before you could even ask what does Kamal Haasan have that Harrison Ford doesn't (Bush is yet to watch the latest Indiana Jones), an unsuspecting public fell for the ploy, aided, in no small measure, by the current everything-Indian-rocks phase.

It's another matter that someone forgot to inform President Bush about this viewing schedule, so he booked himself on a farewell tour to Europe. For a guy whose English has come in for some ribbing, the prospect of watching a Tamil movie surely must have seemed daunting enough for him to plot an escape route to Europe. Who knows if some bright spark in the marketing team had informed him about Kamal Haasan impersonating him in one of his 10 avatars, he might have rescheduled his trip and forthwith asked for a special screening. Alas, nothing of this sort happened, and instead of sexy Mallika, it will probably be Merkel he has to be content with.

Says TOI foreign correspondent Chidanand Rajghatta, "It's only rarely that the White House theatre schedules movies... and it doesn't seem like Bollywood or Kollywood will make the cut any time soon."

So, why are Dasavatharam's distributors going to town with American figure heads? In their present name-dropping frenzy, they haven't stopped to think about the absurdity of their claims. "This seems like part of the usual idiotic Indian urban legend about Indians making up 35 percent of Microsoft and Indian kids getting NASA assignments etc., all promoted by publicity-seeking racketeers. There's no such event on Bush's calendar," says Rajghatta.

But who's going to stop their high-octane claims? Bush and Obama may not have heard the first thing about their names being used in the campaign, so unlikely they'll protest about it. So, when Jayavel Murugan, the US link to the movie's juggernaut distribution team says, "My team is getting hold of Obama to screen special shows for him," we'll cheer from the sidelines and applaud how India's gone well and truly global.

Webinfosys's Entertainment News : Konkana: Lucky by choice

I am very excited and honoured,” says a very happy Konkona Sen Sharma.

The actress has won her second National Award for the best supporting actress, for the film Omkara. Earlier she had won the National Award in the same category for the film Life in a... Metro.

“It is a great feeling to be acknowledged for the work you do. But honestly, I never wait for the acknowledgments. If they have to come my way, then they will. I just keep on doing my work,” she says. Konkona has never felt the pressure of performing in a certain way and doing certain kind of cinema even after the accolades. “I have never felt the pressure. I only do movies that I want to do and the directors that I want to work with. And trust me, I ‘looove’ the movies I have done so far.”

Omkara was an interesting experience for Konkona. “I am just about comfortable with Hindi and in this movie, I had to have a UP accent. Vishal gave me a CD of dialogues and I crammed up everything. But then, Vishal noticed that this was coming in the way of my performance. So he asked me to be myself. He said, ‘try and get into the soul of the character.’ That helped and here I am with a National Award!”

Konkona has an array of films, which will release over this year and the next. “There is Zoya Akhtar’s Lucky By Chance, Dil Kabaddi, Sunglass and a very interesting movie about President Bush coming to India, titled The President Is Coming. I am very happy with the type of roles I am being offered.” And that keeps her busy? “If I don’t have much to do, I feel very useless. I would rather be in the working mode. Anyway, I am not the bungee jumping kind, I like to travel and read books if I have the time,” she laughs.
